Ireland has seen an increasing number of activist actions since 2015, bringing the total number of campaigns since 2015 to 14. Ranked 2nd in the Eurozone for ease of doing business, Ireland combines a favorable economic environment and a diverse market for investment. Companies listed on the Main Securities Market are required to comply with both the U.K. Corporate Governance Code and the Irish Corporate Governance Annex.
Shareholders reaching, exceeding or falling below a 2%, 5%, and various higher thresholds in voting share ownership must disclose their voting interests to the investee company and the Stock Exchange Commission (CONSOB).
Like the U.K., structural defenses are limited for Irish listed companies.
